Gago Coutinho School in Alverca

The second phase of the Gago Coutinho School in Alverca has reopened.

 

According to Parque Escolar:

The aim of the renovation of Gago Coutinho Secondary School, carried out by Parque Escolar, was to reorganise the teaching spaces and the way in which the existing buildings were used, enhancing the role and conditions of the indoor and outdoor spaces for collective use.

The intervention focused on the rehabilitation of the five main blocks of the school (three blocks of classrooms, a block of administrative and multi-purpose services, and also a sports hall) and added three new buildings to the school complex, which include the workshop block, the gymnasium and changing rooms, and the block for social and support spaces.

The exterior arrangements project contemplated living and circulation areas, pedagogical vegetable gardens, sports fields and two parking areas for vehicles, supporting the workshop building and the administrative services block.

Giving sequence to the initial intervention the project of Architecture in this phase was also developed by the recognized Architecture Team JOÃO LÚCIO LOPES – JLLA Arquitectos, that was also supported by PROJECTUAL for the elaboration of all the engineering specialties.

In this phase the construction was carried out by Construtora TPS.

QuaKe Museum – The 1755 Earthquake experience.

 

According to the Portuguese Education for Citizenship Portal:

A new interactive museum, Quake Museum, opened in Lisbon, sustained in the knowledge of History, Science and Art, which was the basis to provide the revisitation of the 1755 Earthquake and offer visitors the experience of the sensations lived, contributing to the understanding of the impacts of this Natural Risk.

The Quake Museum Earthquake Centre resulted from a collaborative work involving historians, teachers from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon and researchers from the Dom Luiz Institute and its objectives were scientific, historical and technological accuracy.

The visit to the Quake Museum intends to enable the acquisition of knowledge about seismology and civil protection in its preventive aspect, namely in the training centre, as well as to visit the streets of Lisbon that were destroyed and to contact with the society of that time.

The Architecture project was developed by the recognized Architecture Office FRAGMENTOS, who was the supported by PROJECTUAL for the elaboration of all the engineering specialties.

Norfin launches Lisbon Heights, the new refuge in Lisbon’s Upper Town.

 

The development is a private condominium consisting of 82 flats and 13 villas, located in Alta de Lisboa and its green areas, which will be globally rehabilitated integrating the whole.

The developer, CASTLE CAPITAL MANAGEMENT, an ARROW affiliate, has delegated the management of this real estate investment to NORFIN, a reference in this area. The investment of around 41 million euros already has a good number of units reserved.

The coordination of the projects and Architecture was the responsibility of INTERGAUP, a recognized Office of Architecture, which was supported by PROJECTUAL for the development of the projects of all the specialties and also by POLÉN for the area of landscaping design.

The project was developed on the BIM REVIT platform, which speeded up the whole process of concession and interdisciplinary compatibilisation
