Project for the energy renovation of buildings on the LNEC Campus

João Lúcio Lopes – Arquitectos, Lda, supported in the engineering area by PROJECTUAL, won the tender for the design of the energy renovation of buildings on the LNEC Campus.

According to the LNEC website, the LNEC-ZEB Investment Project, financed by the PRR with €4,967,450.00 to improve the energy efficiency of Central Public Administration buildings, is aimed at the energy renovation of six buildings on the LNEC Campus:

a) Component Testing Building;
b) Transport Building;
c) Fernando Abecassis Building;
d) Warehouse 2, Bar and Nursery;
e) Scientific Instrumentation Centre Building;
f) Wood Building.

The project aims to improve the energy class of these buildings from class D to class A+ and convert them into ‘Nearly Zero Energy Buildings’ (NZEB), providing reductions in primary energy consumption of 71 per cent. Measures of “Hydric Efficiency” are also planned to save water and enable better management of this resource, reducing LNEC’s consumption in the future.

In this project, PROJECTUAL will be responsible for all the engineering areas of the Special Installations. The evaluation of the technical component of the proposal and the qualifications of the team were fundamental to the selection of the winner of the tender.
